Investing

Thought of being an investment guru like Warren Buffet and Geogre Solos?
Smart Virtual Office would like to introduce the 3 types of investors.
Investing is generally split into three schools of thoughts.

1) FA - Fundamental Analysis (Intrinsic Value, based on numerous factors, eg growth, assets etc).
Emphasis is on valuing the company, as if you're the owner of it. Therefore, market swings are of little concern. In fact if the share price drops much lower, it could be a good time to buy more and accumulate.

2) TA - Technical Analysis (Charting, Extrapolating the share price trends)
It's much like economics, basically about supply and demand. Except that you determine the demand from the share price graph. A steadily climb in share price indicate that it's time to buy into this stock, and wait for it to climb. In this case, the investor is uninterested in the company; whether it sells gold or sand doesnt matter to him.

3) Mixed - CANSLIM
Utilizes both thoughts to determine whether to buy shares or not. Claims to be best of both worlds, but what if you receive conflicting signals from the company fundamentals and the technical trends? I dont know.

The following 3 books should give you a rough idea how to analyse companies and pick out the cream of the crop.

The Warren Buffett Way - Robert Hagstrom
Common Stocks and Uncommon Profits - Philip Fisher
One Up On Wall Street - Peter Lynch

Read up more before you decide which suits you best.
